Infatuated with the niceties of sadness, Mitchell Lips works to create a major key melancholy behind cryptic, quirky wordwork. The band’s music fuses lyrical and stylistic influences including Pavement, Pixies and They Might Be Giants into an amalgam they proudly call garbage art. Albright’s lyrics are pretty aight sometimes. They’ll be playing “Bingo” but not the children’s song about that farmer’s dog.
