BIOGRAPHY
Allison de Groot is one of Canada’s top claw-hammer banjo players. She combines love and passion for old-time music, technical skill and a creative approach to songwriting and composition to create her own sound – unique and full of personality. In 2008, Allison founded the all female country quartet Oh My Darling and has toured with the group for the past five years, playing all over the world, from Trafalgar Square in London, The Living Room in New York City, Tønder Festivalin Denmark and main-stage at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. In her free time, Allison makes pilgrimages to the Appalachians to study old-time music and culture. She is an regular participant of the Old Time Appalachian String Band Festival in West Virginia, has spent time immersed in old-time communities in North Carolina and studied privately with Daniel Koulack, Bruce Molsky, and Adam Hurt, to name a few.
